Developmental Program

Open to ALL Boys and Girls in the Jericho School District 

As per US Soccer Federation and Long Island Junior Soccer League mandates, soccer teams are aligned by calendar   birth year (born January 1 – December 31) and not by grade- level

Our Pre-Travel and Travel Developmental Programs are for players looking for a greater commitment to soccer development.  These programs are in addition to our Recreational / Intramural programs

Kindergarten / “Pre-Travel” (2018)
  • One Midweek practice for 1-hour
  • Last ~20 minutes of the session will be scrimmage game play supervised by the trainers
  • *MUST Register for Sunday Morning soccer clinics which are also 1-hour (separate fee)
Pre-Travel Soccer (2017)
  • ONE Midweek practices for 1-hour
  • 1-hour Game on the weekend against other local town teams (usually no more than ~20 minutes away)
  • Jericho teams will sometimes play one another as well
  • Games are 5 v 5 including a goalie
  • Soccer trainers act as referee and are on the field providing instruction to the kids during the game

Balanced teams are formed to create even playing field across all teams

*MUST Register for Sunday Intramural soccer (separate fee)

Pre-Travel Soccer (2016)
  • Full Year Program – Fall & Spring

  • TWO Midweek practices for 1-hour and 15-minutes

  • 1-hour Game on the weekend against other local town teams (usually no more than ~20 minutes away)

     

  • Jericho teams will sometimes play one another as well

     

  • Games are 5 v 5 including a goalie

     

  • Soccer trainers act as referee and are on the field providing instruction to the kids during the game

     

  • Balanced teams are formed to create even playing field across all teams

  • *MUST Register for Sunday Intramural soccer (separate fee)
Travel Soccer (2015 and older)
  • Full Year Program – Fall & Spring

  • TWO Midweek practices for 60-90 minutes depending on age

     

  • 1 Game per weekend against other town teams

     

  • Kids are all registered with player cards to certify their age/division

     

  • Under-9 (U9) and Under-10 (U10) play 7 v 7 with a goalie

     

  • U-11 and U-12 play 9 v 9

     

  • U-13 and older play 11 v 11

     

  • Coaches are on the sideline only – League referees officiate the matches

     

  • Skill based teams are formed and matched with other town teams of similar skill level in same division

  • *MUST Register for Sunday Intramural soccer through 3rd grade (separate fee)

Recreational Program

3-year-olds
  • Sunday Morning Soccer Clinic (2020) – Fall & Spring

  • Sunday Morning soccer clinic for 1-hour

  • Instructional sessions focusing on introducing kids to the sport and working on basic foot and ball skills

Pre-K / 4-year-olds
  • Sunday Morning Soccer Clinic (2019) – Fall & Spring

  • Sunday Morning soccer clinic for 1-hour

     

  • Instructional sessions focusing on introducing kids to the sport and working on basic foot and ball skills

     

  • Last ~20 minutes of the session will be scrimmage game play supervised by the trainers

Kindergarten

INTRAMURAL (IM) Soccer
  • FALL Season ONLY

  • *REQUIRED* for all pre-travel and travel soccer player through 3rd Grade

  • Sunday afternoon soccer game – One game per weekend

  • Jericho students ONLY – no games against other towns

     

  • Kids divided by GRADE, not by birth year

     

  • Games only, no formal instruction or skills education

  • *Parent Volunteers Needed to Coach the teams

FRIDAY Soccer Clinics
  • Fall & Spring

  • Weekly instructional sessions offered SEPARATE from the other programs

     

  • Available to all children 1st grade – 6th grade

     

  • Sessions focus on skills and instruction, some limited game play activity

     

  • Jericho kids playing and learning, NO games against other towns.

    *If you register for Intramural soccer program (Fall Only) then Friday night clinics are OPTIONAL and INCLUDED in your registration fee
